Custom N55M Rare Earth NdFeB High Grade Magnets – Powerful new grade of Neodymium added to our magnet offerings
A powerful new grade of Neodymium is now available at MPCO Magnetics: 55 MGOe Neodymium. As the strongest rare earth magnetic material available for commercial use, N55M is about five- to six-percent stronger than N52 MGOe, our previously highest available grade.
MPCO Magnetics is now offering a new grade of Neodymium magnets: N55MGOe. These NdFeB magnets are the highest grade of Neodymium available, well suited for maximum holding strength in small applications, such as medical/biotech, aerospace, automotive, or defense.
Offering the best size to holding power ratio, N55M is approximately 3% to 5% stronger than what was previously the strongest available grade, N52MGOe. With an operating temperature of about 80°C, this grade of NdFeB magnets is ideal for small spaces requiring maximum strength such as magnetic sensors, magnetic switches, and many other delicate applications.
Sintered Neodymium Iron Boron (NdFeB), or “neo” magnets, is the third generation of permanent magnet developed in the 1980s. It offers the strongest magnetic power today. With its excellent magnetic characteristics Neodymium Magnet offers flexibility for new designs or is replacing older materials like Alnico and Ceramic in many applications, including high performance motors, brushless DC motors,
The global permanent magnet market is dominated by rare earth magnets based on the Nd2Fe14B phase accounting for over 60% of total sales. The current status of material development and processing technologies will be reviewed. With the forecast growth in applications e.g. in both ICE and HEV/EV markets, the search for alternatives to the current Nd, Pr and Dy alloy compositions is being pursued. Also microstructure engineering through thermomechanical processing is being developed to enhance magnetic performance with lower rare earth content. In addition recycling strategies for EOL magnets are receiving increased attention. These technologies and market drivers for the rare earth magnet industry will be discussed. An update on the latest status of the Hitachi Metals patent litigation will also be presented.
Available N55M stock magnets
N55M has a maximum operating temperature of up to 80 degrees Celsius. With a strong magnetic field, this grade of Neodymium is preferred for holding force applications that have size or space limitations.
