Channel magnet gets its name exactly from its structure. It shares the same working principle with round shape pot magnet that conduct magnetic field strength via the steel channel to have alternating-pole pattern on the holding face so that high holding force can be obtained.
This NdFeB channel magnet has one mounting hole on each end and it can be fastened easily with screws. This 3″ channel magnet gives 45kg holding force, so you might need it when you have something heavy to hold.

This magnetic cabinet door latch is made of a super strong neodymium magnet encased inside a chrome plated steel circuit which triples the holding force to 95 lbs, which is 15 pounds stronger than an equivalently sized standard channel magnet! Holding and pull strength
Channel assemblies are up to 32 times stronger than ceramic magnets by themselves. Pull strength is tested on a flat steel plate 3/8 inch thick. The pull may vary depending on the surface it is attracted to, for example, if the steel is less than 3/8 inch thick, coated, rough or rusty. Design and handling considerations
Most of our magnetic assemblies are made with ceramic magnets, which are brittle and may break if dropped or if riveting is used in their application.
